Q1: Why must you work much more carefully with home electricity than with batteries?

[Answer]

Electricity is vital to every modern home. Electricity comes from an outside supply through a meter and a fuse box. It is then carried by cables within the walls and between the floors and ceilings to wall plugs and ceiling lights.

Each cable has a live wire and a neutral wire. They are the equivalent of the two ends of a battery.

Mains electricity works on a much higher voltage (240V) and has much more power than batteries.
