Q1: What is a heating element and where would you find it?

[Answer]

When electricity flows through a wire, the wire resists the flow and some heat is produced.

Normally we design wires so that the heat produced is tiny. But we can design the wires so that lots of useful heat is produced.

A part of an appliance that gives out heat is called a heating element. It is made from a special wire that slows down electricity and therefore gets hot, but does not melt.
