Q1: How can you test for sand?

[Answer]

Rocks are worn down into smaller pieces in rivers and by waves, and also on the land by rainwater and frost.

The larger pieces are called pebbles, or stones. When these pieces get broken down they become gravel, then sand and finally clay. All of these materials are found in soils.

Stones and gravel are easily seen. Sand gives the soil a gritty feel. Clay is smallest of all. Wet clay feels sticky.
