Q1: What did the first expedition think of the native peoples?

[Answer]

When the first expedition arrived they were met by the people who lived there. They were called the Secotan nation. The expedition noted that they were "very handsome and goodly people, and in their behaviour as mannerly, and as civil as any of Europe."

The settlers and the Secotan traded and the Secotan gave the settlers food. Two Secotans agreed to go back to England when the expedition returned.
