The success of the first expedition and the arrival of the Secotans produced great excitement in England. In 1585 Raleigh organised a second voyage, this time to take 300 colonists to Roanoke to stay.
The Secotans let the settlers build a fort, for the Secotan villages were all fortified anyway.
But over the months not all went well. The settlers started to run out of food and wanted more and more from the Secotans.
