Q1: How clean was Tenochtitlan and its people?
[Answer]

The Spaniards were impressed by the beauty, order and cleanliness of the Aztec city. It was one of the world's biggest cities in the 16th century.

Most of the population liked to bathe twice a day at a time when Europeans hardly ever bathed in their lifetimes. They even used soap made from the root of a plant.

In the centre of the city were the public buildings, temples and schools. Inside a walled square, with 300m sides, there was the religious area containing 45 public buildings.
