The three great pyramids at Giza are among the wonders of the world. They are all built of limestone cut from the tableland on which they stand.
In front of the central one is the Sphinx, the world's most famous sculpture, cut directly from the limestone.
They are all the work of three pharaohs in a single century 4,500 years ago.
