Remember, the pyramids are the most outstanding monuments the ancient Egyptians left behind. They tell of a great civilisation with the power to organise the building of these huge monuments.
But they also tell us there was a limit to how much the pharaohs could afford. The Giant Pyramids nearly bankrupted Egypt and they were stopped, although smaller pyramids were built in later times.
