Q1: What was a torc?

[Answer]

Bronze was valuable in Bronze Age times, just as aluminium was valuable in Victorian days and gold has been valuable throughout history. So people often used it for decoration or for use in ceremonies.

One of the most common uses was as a neckband, also called a torc. This was made of twisted bronze wires, and once fitted, probably stayed on for life. Torcs continued to be common jewellery throughout the following Iron Age.
