By the 1970s television was firmly part of most family evenings. It was still so new for many people that the whole family would spend the night in just looking at the TV.
At this time there was a choice between BBC and ITV – just two channels.
Many of the still-famous Radio and TV programmes date from this time, such as the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Dad's Army.
