Q: What were boutiques?

Different kinds of fashion sometimes caused problems. Mods (who wore 'modern clothes, but looked a bit like Teddy Boys and rode motor scooters) and rockers (who wore leathers and rode big motorbikes) often battled on beaches during the summer holidays.

Then shops selling new 'global' fashions and accessories opened for teenagers. They were called boutiques. The shops were some of the first to allow you to walk around and try things on. They also played music. It was all quite revolutionary.
