Q: What started the television buying boom?

Television broadcasting started before the war. During the war television was closed down, but it was started up again afterwards. However, in the early days after the war almost no one could afford a TV set.

Then, one of the most important events in British TV history happened: the Queen was crowned in 1953. Millions crowded round the few TVs there were and they like what they saw. The television boom began. It was to change everyone's lives.
