Q: What was lino?

Homes in the early 1950s were still bare and simple compared to today's world. Floors had plastic sheeting called lino. Almost no one had fitted carpets. Almost no one had a TV.

Yet people were now mostly in work and there was gradually more money to spend. People started to go on holiday, and more cars appeared on the roads.

Then people began to buy the new luxury goods: a washing machine, a fridge, a vacuum cleaner - for some, even a car. As a result, life became easier.
