Inside the rock

This is deep inside limestone rock at a place where the cracks have been widened so much that they make a natural tunnel.

You can see water pouring between bands of the limestone.

Limestone dissolves and so the cracks widen. This lets a lot of water flow through. Most other kinds of rock do not dissolve and so the water flowing through them is much smaller.
