Where do springs flow?

Most springs are found in hillside hollows. This is because water sinks down to the lowest level - the bottom of a hollow.

As more and more water seeps into a hollow, the soil and rock fill up with water. Any surplus is then pushed out - giving a spring.

Each spring forms the start of a stream.
