Rainforest animals can be caught. They can then be sold to people in wealthier countries. So long as there are wealthy people willing to pay for them, animals will continue to be caught.
Making the importing of animals illegal is something we can, and do, do. But it is only when the collectors can be made to stop that the trade will have no value and so stop.
