Q1: What is the name for large pieces of the Earth's crust?

[Answer]

The crust beneath your feet is moving - right now! We don't notice it very often because the speed is slow - about 2cm each year.

The crust is broken into about a dozen giant slabs (called plates). If you are in the middle of a slab, you hardly notice a thing. The UK is in the middle of a slab, which is good news for us.
