None of us think we use much energy, let alone waste it. But as the world's population reaches 10 billion, there are so many of us, that doing even small things adds up.
You are reading this from a computer. The computer probably uses about 60W and the screen (if it's an LCD) uses much the same (about twice that if its a CRT). It's just the same as two light bulbs, so it's no big deal. But let's see how the computer is connected to the rest of the world.
