The resources used in packaging are often plastics. Plastics are made from oil. But the amount of plastics we use is small compared to the other resources we use.

So if we are thinking about cutting waste on plastics, we ought to see what we use on other things, too, and then think about how we could use less of them, or which ones to use that will damage the environment least.
