V-shaped valley

What is a V-shaped valley? A V-shaped valley is a river valley with straight sides that seem as though they make a letter V when you look up or down the valley.

A V-shaped valley.

V-shaped valleys are only found in hilly or mountain areas. However, because many mountain areas have been affected by glaciers, V-shaped valleys in mountains are less common than the U-shaped valleys cut by glaciers.
