Q1: What do 'reading glasses' do?

[Answer]

Our eyes have natural lenses in them which can change shape to bring things into focus whether they are close to or far away.

Sometimes the muscles that move the lenses cannot quite get this right, and then we give them a helping hand by using glasses.

There are two kinds of glasses: those with double-bulging lenses for people who cannot focus things close up, and double-dished lenses for people who cannot focus things far away.
