Q1: What materials could we use for soundproofing?

[Answer]

Sound needs a material to move in. It can travel most easily through hard substances or be bounced from their surfaces. But sound cannot travel through empty space or soft materials.

Making sounds quieter is all about knowing what makes it easier for sounds to travel, for then we can design things that stop sounds travelling. This is called muffling, or soundproofing.
