Q1: Which common substance freezes at 0°C?

[Answer]

Freezing is the opposite of melting. It happens when heat is taken away from a substance. As the particles in the liquid lose heat, they stop shaking about and eventually lock together to make a solid.

When water loses heat it turns to solid ice.

We can change the freezing point of a substance by making it into a mixture, for example, adding antifreeze to water.
