Feet are among the most temperature-sensitive parts of our bodies. Try putting a bare foot in cold water and then adding warm water to it.
Even so, if you put one bare foot on a piece of wood and put the other bare foot on a sheet of metal, the metal will feel colder, even if the wood and the metal are at the same temperature. This is because the metal carries heat away more quickly than wood (page 3 tells you why). Try it to see that it is true.
