Q1: Name a rock that soaks up water

[Answer]

Some rocks soak up, or absorb, water.

Water will flow into any small hole in a rock. But some rocks have almost no holes. Granite is an example.

But a few rocks have many holes in them. White chalk and yellow sandstone both soak up water.

Limestone is a rock that has many cracks in it. The water flows through the cracks.
