Q1: Where does a plant get its nourishment from?

[Answer]

Plants make their own food from the world around them. They need sunshine, a supply of water, and some substances (nourishment) in the soil.

The problem for a plant is how to get these substances out of the soil. The way they do this is to suck up nourishment that naturally occurs in the water of a soil.

The best natural source of nourishment is the rotting remains of dead plants. It is called humus.
