Q1: How much longer was Spinosaurus than T. rex?

[Answer]

Spinosaurus was the largest hunting dinosaur that we have real records of. It was not spiny to look at, but it had long bony spines rising from its backbone. These were covered with skin, so would have looked more like a tall crest.

It lived nearly 40 million years before T. rex. It was 18m long and weighed around 9 tonnes, and its head – which was filled with long pointed teeth – was 2m long.

It had its nostrils high up on its head (as crocodiles do) and so may have eaten fish rather than other dinosaurs.
