The Vikings lived and ruled in parts of Britain in what we call the Dark Ages.
They were mostly people from Scandinavia (mainly the lands that we now call Denmark and Norway). They began to raid Britain at the end of the 8th century and began to settle in Britain 50 years later.
Parts of England were then ruled by Vikings for 300 years. Parts of Scotland were ruled by Vikings until the 15th century, which is about 600 years.
