As we have looked at Victorian times, we have seen huge changes.

In part, this is because there were more people, in part because people were better off and goods cost less.

It was also because new inventions – railways, gas, electricity etc. – meant new ways of living.

Also, Britain was at the centre of a huge empire and the people were proud of this.
