Many children worked down the mines.
Mostly they picked up scraps of coal that had fallen from wagons, opened and closed safety doors, and pulled and pushed wagons full of coal.It was hot and dangerous.
Then we follow workers as they carry coal from the mine back to the surface using steep, rickety ladders.
