Q1: How did people get to work?

[Answer]

Nearly everyone works in a factory. They live in small, cramped and damp houses close to the factory gates. There are no trains, no buses, no cars. Everyone walks to work. Goods are drawn on horse carts or on barges.

The clatter of machines can be heard from far away. Everybody's lungs are filled with smoke from the chimneys that stoke the boilers, that make the steam, that drive the belts, that work the machines, that make the goods, that make Britain prosperous.
