Some of the most famous ships of Tudor times were galleons, that is carracks designed to be used in wars. Other names include Great Ship, and sometimes even 'galley',not meaning a rowing ship, but more a large galleon. Henry VIII commissioned the first Ark Royal.
It's a bit of a diversion from exploration, but if you want you can find out about galleons and what they did. You can look, for example, at the Armada, where galleons fought the Spanish.
Note the Golden Hind was NOT a galleon, but the Mary Rose was.
The Mary Rose was enormous by Tudor standards, being 700 tonnes and having on board over 400 men. You can find out more at the Mary Rose web site: www.maryrose.org
Note the Mary Rose did not go on any explorations.
