Q1: How did the Romans get water from place to place in a town?

[Answer]

The Romans knew the importance of water. If they were lucky, they could dig a deep well and get a reliable supply.

Otherwise they brought water from a neighbouring river using a water channel called an aqueduct.

In the town the Romans put water underground in lead pipes so that it stayed clean. It would be nearly 2,000 years before Britain got water as clean as in Roman times.
