One of the most important parts of a Roman city was the agora – the Roman word for marketplace. The Romans had borrowed this idea from the ancient Greeks, and it suited city life.
Goods were brought to be sold in the agora from all over the empire.
It meant that Romans could get things they liked from home, and it introduced some of the British to a new kind of living.
