Q1: What was different about the tops of the columns between Greek and Roman styles?
[Answer]

The Romans did change the decoration at the tops of the columns.

The Greeks had used quite plain styles, but the Romans used a much more leafy style called Corinthian (and named after the Greek city of Corinth).
