Q1:What did the ancient Greeks call the marketplace?

[Answer]

The Greeks had a marketplace in which they could buy food, cloth, jewellery and other things they needed. But as women were confined to the home, it was the men or the slaves who did the shopping.

The centre of the marketplace, or agora, was an open area, and around it were shops, arranged side by side and called a stoa. The Romans would later copy this idea - as we do today with the shopping plaza.
