Q1: Where were many pharaohs buried?

[Answer]

Screen 4/5

Thebes: tombs

On the opposite side (west bank) of the Nile to the big temples is the Valley of the Kings, where many pharaohs were buried in caves dug deep into the cliff.

The whole area is called a necropolis, which means the city of the dead. Here you find temples to the dead as well as tombs of kings, queens, nobles and even ordinary workers.
