By the end of the Stone Age, people knew about gold and copper, but these metals were too soft for general use. In the Bronze Age it was discovered how to make a hard metal from a combination, or alloy of two soft metals (copper and tin). But bronze was used sparingly.

In the Bronze Age people stopped building stone circles, found their gods in nature, took up farming and lived in the first roundhouses.
