The most famous Stone Age monument in Europe is Stonehenge. It has a ditch and a bank, so it is a henge. There are also burial chambers nearby.
Stonehenge is unique because it was built and used for 3,000 years.
The bank and (in this case, outer) ditch are the oldest, then there was a ring of outer stones. The largest stones of all, the ones with the cross pieces, are the youngest. The henge was begun 5,100 years ago (3,100 BC).
