Q1: When did modern man arrive in Britain?

[Answer]

In the past there have been many groups of humans, as we have seen with Neaderthal Man. Another of these groups were our early ancestors, known by the name Homo Sapiens (meaning 'Wise Man'). They developed in Africa about 200,000 years ago. They had smaller, less heavy heads and thinner, more spindly bones, than Neandertals.

Although the line of modern humans is old, there is not much evidence of them in Britain until after the last Ice Age finished, about 10,000 years ago. By then, Neandertals were extinct.
