People in many cities suffered bombing for night after night between September 1940 and May 1941.

At the end of this time the Germans had realised that they were not going to be successful.

The RAF was also shooting down more and more German planes.

But the Blitz made hundreds of thousands of people homeless as well as killing tens of thousands.
