Q1: Why was having an inside toilet a new experience for many evacuated children?

[Answer]

Children and their new carers had to find a way of living together. Often there were many children living in the same house, so things like bath-time could mean queues.

For the poorer children a daily bath was a new experience, as was having a toilet inside the house.

Many country people were middle class and were astonished by the way these working class children behaved.
