Children went to the countryside by train, along with their teachers. The teachers were to set up schools in their new homes, so children could still get an education. They were also a link with home.
When the children arrived at their country villages, everything did not always go to plan, and any spare children were simply lined up and local people took their pick until all spare rooms were full. Villagers simply said things like "I'll have that one".
