End of topic

The 1970s was not a happy time for many people. There was the Cold War and the Troubles. There were frequent strikes which no government could stop because the unions were very powerful. People did not realise that workers could not be paid what they had not earned.

During this time the quality of our goods – and especially motor cars – was poor and exports fell and imports rose. By the end of the 1970s many things needed to be put right.
