Some people do live in deserts. Egypt, is, for example, entirely desert. Yet the country supports 50 million people. How is this possible?
Another desert where there are lots of people covers parts of Arizona in the United States. This is one of the fastest growing places in America, so why should people want to come to the desert? By chance, there is plentiful water on hand. Egypt lies across the Nile. Elsewhere there are small springs that allow people to cultivate tiny amounts of land in among the desert sands. These are called oases.
