You may not have noticed the pipes that lead to and from your home because they are buried under the ground. But every house, or every group of flats, has a complicated network of clean water pipes, sewers and rainwater drains.
Some drinking water pipes are many metres across. We call these the main water pipes. When they burst they can quickly flood a street.
