dock
A place for vessels to load and unload cargo or to be repaired. Most docks are near river estuaries.
This is what London Docks (in England) used to look like. In the 1970s they were closed because they were too small for modern container traffic.
The world's largest excavated dry docks are in South Korea (525m long and 131m
wide) and in Dubai (525m long and 100m wide).
