aqueduct

Aqueducts are canals, tunnels or pipes designed to carry water for drinking purposes.

Some of the largest modern aqueducts are in California, where supplying irrigation water to farmers and drinking water for huge cities such as Los Angeles, has resulted in systems thousands of km long. The California Aqueduct, for example, is alone over 700km.

Many aqueducts are very old. This one reaches across a valley and a town in France.
