Features of a waterfall

This diagram shows a side view of a waterfall. You can see that each part has a special name.

Notice that the stones carried over the lip by the falling water wear away the rock below, creating a plunge pool. Some water and stones bounce back and hit the cliff, wearing the bottom of the cliff away, too.
