V-shaped valley

Most rivers are not powerful enough to cut gorges. But they can still cut deep valleys with steep sides.

There is no flat land beside the river in these valleys and the rivers tumble over rocky beds.

When you look along one of these valleys, it appears to be shaped like a capital letter V, so they are called V-shaped valleys.
